Shin Akuma, or Shin Gouki (真・豪鬼 Shin Gōki, the "true Great Demon") is a character from the Street Fighter series, first introduced as a hidden boss in Street Fighter Alpha 2. This is the form Akuma becomes when almost completely controlled by Satsui no Hado (殺意の波動 Satsui no Hadō?, "Surge of Murderous Intent").

Story[]

Shin Akuma marked his first appearance in Street Fighter Alpha 2 as a hidden boss. The player must meet certain requirements (a certain number of perfect rounds and super finishes) in a regular playthrough with any character in order to face Shin Akuma as the penultimate challenger before the final boss. The player has only one opportunity to defeat Shin Akuma; if they lose they will face the original opponent who's stage they are on.

Gameplay[]

Shin Akuma has the exact same moveset as Akuma, albeit the moves are performed at a much faster rate. Shin Akuma's Zankuu Hadouken also projects 2 fireballs, which travel much farther, compared to the regular Zankuu Hadouken which only projects one fireball, travelling a shorter distance.

Shin Akuma performs his teleportation move, Ashura Senkuu, at a much higher speed as opposed to regular Akuma. Shin Akuma performs the super move Shun Goku Satsu at a far greater intensity, travelling further and quicker to initially grab the opponent, and also inflicting more damage during the actual move itself. This can make the move extremely hard to evade, especially the closer the opponent is to Shin Akuma at the moment the move is performed.
